Is Your Relationship Worth Saving?
You came.
You loved.
You conquered.
It's over.
Or is it?
Is your relationship worth saving? There are a few questions you can ask that will help you decide for yourself whether it is worth saving and if you are willing to do the work necessary to save it.
It's never enough to simply decide that your relationship is, in fact, worth saving. You must decide that not only is it worth saving but that you are going to do everything within your power to save it. But how do you know your relationship is one for the record books or at least one that is worth working hard to preserve and improve?
1) Do you really love your partner and feel confident that he or she loves you? This is huge. Without love it's hard to find a point in working to make things right. Your ex may have forgotten or may even have a hard time at the moment admitting he or she loves you but love must be part of the equation on both sides for the relationship to have a future.
2) Have you had more good times than bad together? Most relationships will go through a series of ups and downs along the way. Even the best of them have good times and not so good times. What you need to do is take a look back and make sure that the number of good times out strip the bad.
3) How much do the two of you have in common? Not only is it important to know how much you have in common but also how important the things you do have in common are to the two of you. Differences in money management, child rearing, and familial obligations can bind couples in some instances and rip them apart in others. Find out where your common ground lies and how well you can live with the differences between the two of you.
